Let’s take a walk down memory lane.
See the things you did?
The good and the bad you did?
Hope you are still able to see your minor and major achievements.
There is a lot in the past – clutter may be. But someone looking to be better person can still get gems from the clutter.
Wishes…looking back in your past life and evaluating the good and bad choices you made
Sometimes reminiscence gets the better part of your mind and wishes start flowing into your brain with no sign of stopping.
You look at the things you once did and wonder why you decided to do them in the first place – some in fear of commitment!
Sometimes all you want to do is bang your head on a wall.
Tears flow freely from your eyes as you mutter, ‘I wish I had stayed home to help my wife raise our children.’
Look at the hearts you broke.
Look at all the chances you had to make somebody’s day better yet you left arrogance to lodge in your mind without pay.
Look at the divorce you hurriedly rushed for and now looking back you wish you could have just worked things out with your spouse.
Your son told you, ‘Hey dad why don’t you come home more often, chat with us, dine together, laugh.’
But somehow you had other very important things to do.
He’s twenty one now and on his own.
You were never close, though you know he loves you and cares for you.
But now he’s chasing his dreams and all you do is wish you spent more time not only with him but with his siblings too.
You let yourself into drugs and now you are a slave to it.
You can’t save any money.
You wallow in debt.
Things are not the way you wanted your life to be.
Perhaps you have struggled to stop abusing drugs may be you want to start now – and all you ask yourself is, ‘why did I smoke that thing in the first place?’
Sometimes you look back and wish things were good, just the way they were before.
You wonder why you haven’t been to church for six months now yet you rarely missed a mass back then.
Sometimes you look into your spouse’s eyes and you are sure there is no more trust in your relationship anymore.
Things have changed.
The formula you knew is no longer applicable to the present problems.
And so you make more wishes.
But, can you bury the not-so-good-looking past…stop with the daydreaming and wishing you did things differently?
What are you going to do now?
What are you going to do that will make you a better person?
Will you just allow yourself to be a slave to self-pity, misery and regrets and the ugly past?
There is always one more chance to become a success. A chance to make things right.
There is always a chance to make your life better and it starts with your own decision to become a better person and fly far, far away from past mistakes.
The past can’t be changed you know…but great life lessons can be learned from it
We can only manipulate the present to escape the same mistakes we made back then from sneaking into our present and future.
If there are some good things we did in the past, it is time to look back and take lessons.
Maybe it’s time to draw energy from your past to live life a better person
How do you do that?
Think about the good things you did.
Think about the not so good ones.
Then think about the bad things you did.
After doing that, it is time to look at things that you do that are pulling you away from a peaceful love-filled and purpose-driven life.
Look at the things that add no value to your life.
Turn your back on them.
You don’t have to make one bold step.
Or you can, actually! God Almighty is ready to help you.
To take the heavy burdens off your back.
Say hi to the success – here used to mean a peaceful, love-filled, purpose driven and humble living.
Then tomorrow ask her her name.
Tell success your name the next day and on the fourth day invite success into your life and be the best of friends – just accept her (success) as she is.
Don’t dwell on how thin her legs are or how boring she is (or how hard it is to impress her).
Do away with things that don’t add value to your life.
Build your foundation one step at a time.
All of us have gems (at least something good we do that people like) in us.
Just find one and let it be the first stone in your foundation. Find the next gem and never tire finding more.
Let these be our gifts to the world.
Don’t let your past inscribe unhappiness on your heart.
Don’t let self-pity control your life.
Draw energy from the good things you did in the past.
And once again, remember to shun the things that don’t add value to your life.
